Rough weekend for MLR and the SRT-4 at the second round of SPEED World Challenge.
Date: 5/1/09
The Synapse Motorsport crew and Matt Lang worked their asses off to get the SRT-4 to New Jersey motorsports Park for round 2 of the SPEED World Challenge season. The weekend started out bad when a trailer bearing went bad on the NY State throughway causing us to lose 4hrs and we missed the Thursday practice session. So we made some adjustments to the car knowing rain was forecasted for the Friday morning practice session. Basically being about 2hrs behind on track time Matt had to learn the car and track very quickly... the rain did not help. The afternoon practice went well without issues and the track was now dry. We were able to get going a bit faster and were excited for qualifying. In the qualifying session Matt was dropping half a second to second per lap with the more seat time he had. On lap 5 a piece of rubber from a Daytona prototype got lodged in the radiator fan causing the blades of the fan to all break off. The quickly overheated ending our session. The Synapse crew went to work and also found a small hole in the radiator. So we patched it up and got a new fan and were hoping for a dry race on Saturday. The start of the race went well moving up 2 spots and Matt was reeling in one of the Realtime TSX's on lap 3 when the car began to see some high temps, once the temps get high the boost cuts off and we were now losing ground and well of the pace. Matt had to pit the car 2 times to let it cool off and see if we could not fix the problem. It didn’t go so well and we only completed half the race laps. We will be racing at Watkins glen and Mid-Ohio this year and look for better results at these tracks!
MLR Motorsports & Synapse motorsports test the SRT-4 at VIR.
Date: 2/21/09
Matt Lang and the crew from Synapse motorsports decided to test the SRT-4 at VIR this weekend. Matt was using this as a chance to get familiar with the Dodge and all its components. The test was a success and no issues arose during the test. Matt was able to get comfortable with the car and turn a few laps quick laps despite being in HPDE3 and having to wait for a point by to pass. It looks like MLR will have a good car at the season opener at Sebring next month.
MLR Motorsports/Synapse motorsports Team up
Date: 2/10/09
MLR Motorsport and Synapse Motorsports are very proud to introduce our 2004 Dodge SRT4 World Challenge Touring Car. The team has worked hard this past year to put this program together for 2009. With just a month away before the start of the season the finishing touches are being put on the car before initial testing will be conducted in the up coming weeks. Specializing in turbochargering since 2004, the Synapse Team feels this is a perfect car to put in their stable, and looks forward to seeing the turbocharged power being put to the ground. We know this car makes plenty of power, and with a lot of hard work from our crew and drivers I know this car has potential to be a good contender in TC, Spurgas said.
MLR Motorsports Enters SPEED Touring Car Season Opener
Date: 2/2/09
Bedminster, N.J. (Feb. 2, 2009) Team MLR is excited to announce their SPEED Touring Car entry into the 2009 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Toyo Tires Season Opener at Sebring. Driver Matt Lang, of Bedminster, N.J., will pilot the No. 99 Skunk2/Olson Technologies Acura Integra Type R at Sebring International Raceway March 18 20.
After entering his first-ever SPEED Touring Car race last season at Lime Rock Park, Lang is eager to get back in the Acura Integra Type R for the 2009 World Challenge season opener in Sebring. The race will be a homecoming of sorts for Team MLR, who were previously based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., before moving to New Jersey.
I think we have a unique situation in that we are able to run an older car in such a great series, Lang said. It’s definitely one of, if not the most popular, Acura model to ever race in SPEED World Challenge. We brought the car out on last minute notice for Lime Rock Park last year, but didn’t get the results we hoped for. The fan’s seemed happy to see the car, so I guess that makes the 19th-place finishing position a little easier to swallow. We are looking to be a bit more competitive at Sebring with a better motor package and better suspension components. It also doesn’t hurt that Sebring is my home track.
We were fortunate to have some of our sponsors step up and get behind us for this race, Lang added. Olson Technologies Inc. is a new sponsor to our team but not a stranger to racing. VP Erik Olson competes regularly in regional club races. Skunk2 has been a long supporter of our team and efforts in motorsports.
Skunk2 Racing products are designed for enthusiasts by enthusiasts. Drawing on nearly a decade of experience in the sport compact industry, Skunk2 Racing is able to create products that cater to the needs of the true enthusiast. As part of a commitment to continually build the best products, Skunk2 Racing is actively involved in various forms of motorsports.
A small team with a limited budget, Team MLR is grateful for the opportunity to race at the SPEED World Challenge Toyo Tires season opener and hopes to enter several additional races in 2009. In addition to the Integra, the team hopes to make some outings in the Motorsports Gallery Dodge SRT-4 and a K24-powered Acura RSX.

Shea Holbrook & Divaspeed run the PBOC 6hr.
Date: 1/15/09
Shea Holbrook and Donna Gilio just ran a 6 hour endurance race this past Thursday night at Sebring with PBOC (Porsche and BMW Club) in Shea's Acura Integra and finished 20th out of 66 cars. The most impressive fact of the race was that we were the pole for all the four cylinder cars. Our qualifying time was 2:31 and our average race lap time was a 2:35. A few mechanical difficulties kept us from wining our class but the car and drivers were definitely capable.

2008 NASA Nationals
Date: 9/13/08
Matt Lang of MLR Motorsports traveled to Lexington Ohio for the 2008 Nasa Nationals. Matt came into the nationals with high expectations and was looking for a top 5 finish. Throughout the week the car was getting better and better we were top 5 in lap times all week long. A personal best lap of 1:38.XX. Matt got a good start on Sunday's championship race and moved up a few positions, matt was then involved in some serious contact and was black flagged for a drive through penalty. Matt was able to move up to 4th despite the black flag. Matt was disqualified for the contact. All in all it was a good weekend and a much better result then last year. We showed improvements in all area's! We want to say thank you to all of the racers and sponsors!

John Whitaker shows his stuff in his K powered ITR at Type R Expo 8
Date: 6/11/08
John Whitaker and Matt Lang traveled to VIR for the Type R Expo 8 last week. It was a great chance for John to please his sponsors by attending this track day event designed to bring out Acura Integra Type R owners to the track. This event is in its 8th year and seems to be growing. We met up with some fellow racers at the track Kevin Helms of Hondaworks, Karl Kondor NASA Southeas HC director. Kevin was testing a new motor for the NASA Nationals it looked goos to us as we watched him down the front straight and through the up hill esses. John was able to get some great laps in despite the heat, temps. were approaching 100 degrees! John was able to do a lead follow with Bob Endicott a professional driver most known for running Acura's in SPEED WC and Grand Am cup. John looked very good and is really learning his car and should be a real force in PTA this year. Matt Lang did a few instructional laps with a long time MLR customer, thanks Mike. He also got a chance to drive a little but didn't press to hard since it was not our car, it was alot of fun and we will be back with our Type R next year.
Matt Lang's pro debut @ Lime Rock Park SPEED WC
Date: 5/26/08
Matt Lang made his pro racing debut at LRP in Lakeville CT with the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car series this past memorial day weekend. We were able to run our Honda Challenge H1 Integra Type R with a few upgrades to be a nit more competative. We were running a stock K20A with a competition camshaft which produced about 15 extra HP. This proved to be not enough HP vut we made the best of what we had. We had also switched to Moon shocks but were not able to test on them and went with the PIC Coilovers we had been racing on all year. We got to LRP on Thursday afternoon to set-up and make some minor tweaks to the car so we would be ready for the early Friday morning practice season. The 1st practice season Friday went pretty well we turned a 1:01.6 which put us last but not to far off considering it was our 1st trip to LRP. In Qualifying we made some changes and thought we would be able to cut a half second. On the 3rd lap we had a rear camber bushing fail causing Matt to hit the wall in West Bend ending his qualifying season. The Synapse Motorsports team worked hard to help repair the car for the Saturday race. We were starting second to last with Jason Martinelli and Bill Auberlen behind us. The race started ok with no drama but and was running up a few spaces till lap 19 when we dropped a valve ending our day. We finished 19th of 20. It was a great learning experience and we enjoyed the professionalism of SCCA Pro Racing and SPEED. We will be back next year....
Juan Paulino and Peter London take 1st (FARA) @ homestead
Date: 5/9/08

They qualified 1st with a lap time of 1:35.XX and were able to carry that speed over to the race and take 1st place in the MP-3 class. Shea Holbrook placed 3rd in the race with her co driver and father Jeff Holbrook and were able to maintain their season points lead in the MP-3 class.
MLR attends Lime Rock Park test day...
Date: 5/6/08
Matt Lang brought the #99 Integra Type R to Lime Rock Park Tuesday to shake the car down and test for the upcoming SPEED World Challenge event we will be competeing in on memorial day weekend. It was Matt's first time driving on the track at LRP, so he spent the first 2 sessions learning the track and gaining some setup knowledge. We ran the car in Honda Challenge trim using the new Toyo R888's (spec WC tire) so that we could get some valuable data regarding the performance of these new tires. The last year’s pole time was 58.153 seconds and we were able to run a 1:00.7 on our best lap. Matt feel’s that with some suspension adjustments and a brake compound change, we can cut at least .5 of a second. We are also going to our WC spec motor that will produce about 30 more HP. We hope that this will yield lap times in the low 59's come race day! We will be posting race results on the site and will have in car footage on youtube.com linked to the site!
Disappointing NASA Mid-Ohio HC event.
Date: 4/12/08
MLR Motorsports went to the Season opener at Mid-Ohio motorsports park to compete in Honda Challenge H1. Being that the Nationals are held at Mid-Ohio we find all track time there is very beneficial. Heading to Mid-Ohio with high expectations with a brand new motor! We were unable to fit the car with the Moton suspension due to a few set backs with shipping. The weekend was not ideal for racing the weather was very bad, low temperatures and heavy rain on and off throughout the weekend didn't make it the best weather for trying new set-ups. On Saturday Matt Lang was able to qualify the car 3rd in class behind the THR Acura TL Type-S and Kelsey Smith's S2000, we were separated by 2 tenths of a second! Matt battled with the car to brake correctly all weekend. This was due to the wrong compound choice in the rear along with the improper brake bias position. So when race time came on Saturday he was unable to hold off anyone in the brake zone and finished 6th. We have fixed the brake issues and are looking to install the Moton's shortly and head out for more testing!

It was the first race of the 2008 season and Matt's 1st trip to this beautiful course. Matt was able to learn the track quickly and pull out a win on Saturday in Honda Challenge H1. His fast lap of the weekend was a 2:13.4 not to bad for his 3rd time ever in the car and 1st time at VIR. The next race will be at VIR at the end of March and Matt hopes to his winning ways while improving his lap times.

Nasa Nationals-MLR Motorsports H1 #99
Date: 9/20/07
Matt Lang competed last week in H1 class of the Nasa National Championships. He was driving the #99 MLR Motorsports Acura Integra Type R. It was only the second time out for this car so we were not expecting a trouble free week but we did not expect to have as many issues as we did. Thursday was three practice sessions and we battled a computer issue and were not able to get the car to engage in Vtech. This problem continued threw Friday and we did not compete in the first qualifying race Friday afternoon. We fixed that issue Friday night and were excited for Saturday, we were second fastest in the early morning session which gave us great hope that we had a fast car but we were basically 2 days behind on set-up. We guessed at the set-up for qualifying and the car developed a ton of under steer because of this we only improved by 1tenth of a second from the morning session. For the race I was hoping to get a good start and we did but the car in front of me stalled and I hit him knocking the ECU loose and ending my race on the 1st lap. Sunday was off to a good start and we hoped to get a good start in the race and we did but Matt had a spin on the 2nd lap going into the key hole which resulted in a tear in the CV boot. 7 laps later the axle broke ending our race and putting us in 2nd to last. We will be back next year stronger and faster. Overall we were pretty happy since we had basically no time to developed the car and showed we could run with the leaders all we need to do is make some adjustments and we will be in the mix for a win next year. Thanks to all my supporters and sponsors!
MLR Motorsports to run in H1 at the NASA Nationals @ Mid-Ohio
Date: 9/10/07
Last weekend at Miami Homestead Speedway MLR was able to test the new ITR H1 K-powered car they have been building this summer. Matt Lang the owner and driver of this car was impressed with the initial feedback. Being the first test we encountered some bugs that needed to be worked out. Of the few laps that Matt was able to complete he did manage to turn a 1:33 which we felt was pretty impressive for a first time out. The K-series motor is the best motor that we have tested yet and cant wait to continue to develop the engine and car! The team is packing up this week and is off to Mid-Ohio to compete at the NASA Nationals in H1. The competition will be the best of the best for Honda drivers and Matt can’t wait to take on the challenge! Sean from P2R will be assisting along with local Honda tuner Chris Stiffler. We hope that our minor issues from Homestead don’t come back so wish us luck!

Date: 8/1/07
MLR Motorsports is getting ready to test thier SWC Integra Type R. Team owner and driver Matt Lang is absolutely dying to get in this car next weekend at Sebring. MLR is using a little bit older chassis, the DC2 but is also using new technology swapping in a JDM K20A Type R motor replacing he some what outdated B18C. This was a way for MLR to compete in SWC to get our feet wet before comitting the resources needed to run a more competative set-up and run a full schedule. This car will be run in select WC events this year and next, and will also compete in NASA Honda Challenge H1 at this year’s nationals at Mid-Ohio. We want to thank all our sponsors and supporters for helping make this happen. Special thanks to Tony and Ray at Skunk2 for the help with this project. Also we wanted to extend our thanks to Jim and Al at PIC Performance for your contributions and support of our team and the NASA FL region. Shea Holbrook comes in 2nd at Fara Racing's 2hr Enduro!
Date: 7/23/07
Shea Holbrook and her father Jeff are good friends of the MLR Motorsports team. MLR met these two back in 2006 when Shea was just learning to drive. We took Shea’s Dc2 Integra and removed the Jackson Racing supercharger and prepped it for road racing. Shea is an up and coming racer in Florida, competing in NASA, SCCA, FARA, and Chin events. This only Shea’s 3rd race weekend, and she has already hit the podium! It is great to see the love of Motorsports passed down from father to daughter. Shea is a true competitor on the track, most often the only female as well as one of the youngest racers at age 17.
MLR Motorsports... NASA FL Sebring International Raceway
Date: 6/24/07
MLR Motorpsorts had a great weekend at Sebring International Raceway. MLR had the #20 Blue Civic SI driven by Matt Lang and the #19 White Civic EG driven by Juan Paulino. Matt was able to run consistent lap times in the low 2:36's. This was very fast considering the extreme heat. Matt took advantage at the start and passed the only Porsche 944S to out qualify, due to attrition and some very good driving Matt passed a few more cars to finish 16th overall. Juan gained more valuable track time with his new EG civic; he was able to run in the low 2:40's. This was the largest field for NASA FL with over 45 cars. NASA FL now takes the annual summer break we will be at Homestead September 1st.
Motul USA joins MLR Motorsports as a sponsor.

Cinco De Mayo SCCA Daytona Enduro washed out.
Date: 5/5/07
MLR Motorsports was expecting great results at Daytona International Speedway this past weekend, but it was cut short by "severe" weather. Matt Lang and Peter London qualified 6th in class (ITS) in the #30 Del Frisco's steak house Honda Civic SI. The enduro was the last race of the day on Sunday, but was cancelled due to severe weather heading towards Daytona. We will be back next time to get to the podium!

Matt Lang of MLR Motorpsorts attacks Mid-Ohio for the 1st time.
Date: 4/23/07
Matt Lang owner of MLR Motorsports and Team MLR LLC was able to get some valuable track time at Mid-Ohio this past weekend in a CRX provided by Sam Myers, Myers Motorsports. Saturday proved to be a difficult day getting to know the track, but with the help of Jim and Al from PIC Performance, they were able to dial the car in to Matt’s driving style. Come Sunday, Matt was able to turn things around. The race was slowed by a few full course yellow flags. Matt’s fast lap was a 1:44.3, not fast enough to win nationals, but enough to place 3rd out of 10 H4 participants. Thanks to Sam Myers who offers a great “arrive and drive” program for racers in the Mid-West region. He is also the Honda Challenge director for the Mid-West region.
MLR Motorsports runs the Grand Am course at Homestead with NASA FL.
Date: 4/4/07
NASA FL was able to convince the management staff at Miami Homestead Speedway to allow us to race on the Grand Am course, needles to say the turn out was very good! The Blue #20 car was very competative and was not to far of the Koni Challenge lap times for ST. Turning a fast lap in the low 1:37's.

Date: 3/21/07
After a small field showed up for the last NASA FL event at Moroso. It looks like we have rebounded nicely with an entry list of about 60 cars for the upcoming race at Miami Homestead Speedway. The #19 car has a been freshened and is looking very strong based on last weeks test day at Homestead. We are using NASCAR turns 3&4 so we should see some great speeds on track. This will serve as a great learning experience for our future plans to run in Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series.

The #20 car qualified 11th overall and 10th in class, the qualifying was cut short for the #20 car because of a broken axle. The #20car moved from 11th to 3rd during the race turning a fast lap of 2:34.656. Unfortunately the #20 car fell back to 6th and 5th in class because of a tire malfunction. We have sent the tire back to Kuhmo further inspection. The #19 car was hit at the start falling back to last fighting his way back to 15th overall and 10th in class. In the second race the #19 car pulled of with gear box issues. The #20 car slid back to the rear of the pack due to a brake pad change before the race, the #20 had a great run passing 27 cars to finish 7th in class and 7th overall.
